November 6 th , 2021

For Immediate Release:

As times change, it becomes necessary to change with those times. Short Track Competitors around the world spend countless hours preparing race cars and spending time fine tuning them in practice and racing. Family, work, vacations, finances, racing and more can put an enormous amount of stress on racers and their families throughout the year.

Hickory Motor Speedway General Manager Kevin Piercy stated “We need to be sensitive to the needs of all competitors, racing is a family sport, but we all need time to spend with our families off track and recharge for the next event”

Hickory Motor Speedways first move for 2022 is to scale back the season schedule from 21 weekends, to 18 weekends. This move will save competitors in all divisions thousands financially and give the competitors a much needed opportunity to catch up on other things important to them and their families.

Hickory Motor Speedways second move was to put together a program that would allow competitors the opportunity for a NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Championship racing in a minimum of 12 weekend events. Hickory Motor Speedway management has spent countless hours working to help provide a better fit for today's competitors seeking this championship. In 2022, Hickory Motor Speedway will go to a playoff format in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Model Stock Car Division.

(See enclosed information)

The format is enclosed in this press release and is simple to understand, but will guarantee an exciting battle down to the last race for the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Model Stock Cars.

Piercy stated "We look forward to 2022 and believe that this program will make it possible for multiple Late Model teams to challenge for the Championship in 2022".

The Paramount Kia "Big 10" Racing Challenge will also return for the Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Models in 2022. The Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Model and all other division points championships will not change.
