" Huffman Doubles Up Wins Twin 40's on Paragon Films Night "

Beautiful weather would grace the Catawba Valley for the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series and the Paragon Films Night at the Races.

Leading off the evening's festivities would the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Models in the first of their twin 40 lap features. William Sawalich in the #43 would set fast time in qualifying and start from the top spot with Landon Huffman in the #75 to his outside. Annabeth Barnes-Crum in the #12 and Charlie Watson in the #7 would make up row two for the start. Huffman would use the high line to make his way to the top spot as the field would charge out of turn two on the initial lap. Isabella Robusto in the #55 would move around Watson for the fourth spot. The field would set a quick pace as the halfway point would see Huffman, Sawalich, Barnes-Crum, Robusto, and Watson as the top five. Huffman would rebound from an early season crash and pull to a commanding lead. Sawalich would give chase, but see the leader keep his distance. Huffman would prove too strong and drive on to the win. Sawalich would finish 2nd with Barnes-Crum taking 3rd. Robusto would grab 4th and Watson would come home in 5th.

The Heritage Finance Street Stocks would roll off next for their 30 lap event. The #11 of DJ Little would top time trials and start from the pole position with the #16 of Jonathon Smith to his outside. Row two would see Kyle Boice in the #73 and Ethan Johnson in the #2 door to door for the start. The green flag would see Little pull to the early lead with Smith hot on his heels. The lead duo would stay nose to tail for the majority of the race while setting the pace. Lap 27 would see the caution fly as Smith's car would come to a stop on the backstretch after trailing smoke during the last ten laps. Smith's night would be over as he would head to the pits. Boice would also come to the pits, but return to the race at the rear of the field. The restart would see Little and Johnson bring the field to the green flag. Little would quickly pull to the lead with Johnson giving chase. Little would drive on to take the win, his first at Hickory Motor Speedway. Johnson would finish 2nd while Baron Kuritzky in the #17 would finish 3rd. Boice would come back to finish 4th and Jeff Byers in the #64 would come home in 5th.

Next up would see the Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Models for their 35 lap feature. Michael Bumgarner in the #97 would set fast time in qualifying and start from the top spot with Colby Gibson in the #2 to his outside. Akinori Ogata in the #14 and Graham Hollar in the #25 would make up row two for the start. Bumgarner would move to the lead as the green flag would fly. Gibson would shadow Bumgarner looking to take the top spot. Ogata and Hollar would race for third with the #15 of William Aldred hot on their heels. Ogata would pull away in third with a battle for fourth shaping up between Hollar and Aldred. Bumgarner would have his racer set on cruise control as he would pull to a commanding lead with Gibson chasing in second. Bumgarner would drive on to take the win, his second on the young season at Hickory Motor Speedway. Gibson would finish 2nd with Ogata in 3rd. Hollar would win the battle for 4th while Aldred would come home in 5th.

The Super Trucks would be the next to grace the famed 3/8 mile oval for a 35 lap event. The #30 of Joey Shuryan would top time trials and start from the pole position with the #65 of Josh Goble to his outside. Row two would see Ricky Dennie in the #6 and Duane Cook in the #17 door to door for the start. The green flag would see Goble use the high line to take the lead with Shuryan facing a challenge from Dennie for second. Contact would send Shuryan spinning and the caution flying with just one lap completed. Goble and Dennie would bring the field back to the green. Goble would pull to the lead with Dennie close behind. Shuryan would battle door to door with Cook for third. Lap 22 would see Dennie to the top spot with Goble looking to battle back for the position. Cook would work his way around Goble for second and try to run down the leader. Dennie would drive on to take the win. Cook would finish 2nd with Goble taking 3rd. Shuryan would take 4th and Watson would have mechanical troubles and finish 5th.

Finishing off the night's racing action would the second of their twin 40 lap NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Model features. After a 10 car invert from the finishing order of race one the front row would be made up of Gracie Trotter in the #2T and Matthew Gould in the #27. Chase Dixon in the #07 and Ryan Millington in the #15 would make up row two for the green flag. Trotter and Gould would have a hard fought battle for the top spot in the first handful of laps. While this battle was raging Millington would join the race with an opportunity for the top spot and race one winner Landon Huffman in the #75 would crack the top five after starting tenth. Gould would pull clear to the lead on lap 9 as Millington would battle Trotter for second. Millington would make the pass for second and set sail for the leader, Gould. Millington and Gould would go door to door for the lead while right behind them Huffman would pull alongside Trotter to challenge her for third. Lap 15 would see Millington take the top spot while Huffman would pull to the inside of Gould for second. The halfway point would see Millington, Huffman, Gould, Dixon, and Charlie Watson in the #7 as the top five. Lap 21 would see the caution fly as Isabella Robusto in the #55 would spin and catch the #5 of Gavin Boschele in the aftermath. The restart would see Millington and Huffman bring the field to the green flag. Millington and Huffman would be even into turn one, but Huffman would use the high line to carry his momentum off of turn two and assume the lead down the backstretch. Huffman would drive on to take the win, his second of the night. Millington would finish 2nd with Dixon taking 3rd. Annabeth Barnes-Crum in the #12 would take 4th with Watson coming home in 5th.

The NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series will hit the track at Hickory Motor Speedway for the next two consecutive weeks on April 30 and May 7.

On May 13 & 14 The Knights of Destruction returns for two nights of metal crunching carnage.
