" Hettinger Scores First NASCAR Late Model Win on NAPA Championship Night"

9/18/21 - The 2021 Hickory Motor Speedway regular season would come to a roaring conclusion on Saturday night at America's Most Famous Short Track with an evening full of racing excitement.

The Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Models would start off the night with 50 laps and the final Paramount Kia "BIG 10" Chase for the Championship event. Mason Maggio in the #12 would set the fast time in qualifying and start from the pole position with Bryson Ruff in the #24 to his outside. Katie Hettinger in the #71 and Max Price in the #22 would make up row two for the start. Maggio would pull to the early lead as Ruff would face a challenge for second from Price. The caution would fly on lap 2 as debris would come off the #76 of Tyler Johnson. The restart would see Maggio and Ruff bringing the field back to the restart. Maggio would pull back to the lead as Price would look under Ruff for second. Price would make the pass as Ruff would pull to his rear bumper. Akinori Ogata in the #14 would move around Hettinger for fourth, but see her come quickly back around to retake the position. Lap 19 would see Ruff move back around Price for second. The caution would fly on lap 28 as Hettinger would spin coming off of turn four. The restart would see Maggio and Ruff bringing the field back to the green flag. Ruff would use the high groove and quickly rocket to the lead with Maggio pedaling hard to retake the spot. Lap 30 would see the caution fly as contact between the leaders would send Ruff spinning and Maggio back to the lead. Maggio and Price would lead the field back to the restart. Maggio would pull to the lead as Ogata would move around Price for second. With the points championship in the balance Ruff would work furiously through traffic and back to fifth on lap 38 as Price would be riding comfortably in third with the championship in sight. Maggio would drive on to take the win. Ogata would finish 2nd with Price taking third and the 2021 Hickory Motor Speedway Paramount Auto Limited Late Model Championship. Hettinger would finish 4th and Ruff would have to settle for 5th.

The Renegades would roll off next for 20 laps of action. Spencer Dickinson in the #6 would pace time trials and start from the point with Robbie Hollifield in the #51 to his outside. Row two would see Danny Crump Jr in the #97 and Brandon Hasson in the #82 side by side for the start. Dickinson would pull to the early lead with Hollifield giving chase. The caution would fly after lap 1 as Crump would spin in turn three. The restart would see Dickinson and Hollifield bring the field to the green flag. Dickinson and Hollifield would see a three wide challenge from Brandon Hasson. Hollifield would use the high side to pull to the lead as Brandon Hasson and Dickinson would make contact in turns one and two as well as down the majority of the backstretch. Dickinson would suffer major damage and pull to pit road, ending his championship dream. Hollifield would fight off a furious challenge from David Hasson in the #83 to take the win and the 2021 Hickory Motor Speedway Renegades Championship. David Hasson would finish 2nd and Zack Mullins in the #72 grabbing 3rd. Crump would finish 4th and Matthew Chambers in the #81 would come home in 5th.

The Heritage Finance Street Stocks would hit the famed 3/8 mile oval next for 30 laps of action. Jesse Clark in the #5 would set the fast time in qualifying and start from the pole position with Derek Fowler in the #31 to his outside. Marshall Sutton in the #64 and John Clark in the #5 would make up row two for the start. Jesse Clark would pull to the early lead with Fowler close in second. Sutton would pull to Fowler's bumper repeatedly to challenge for second, but Fowler would hold the spot. The halfway point would see Jesse Clark, Fowler, Sutton, John Clark, and Ethan Johnson in the #2 as the top five. Jesse Clark would prove too strong and go on to take the win and the 2021 Hickory Motor Speedway Heritage Finance Street Stocks Championship. Fowler would finish and Sutton would take 3rd. John Clark would grab 4th and Johnson would come home 5th.

Next up would see the Super Trucks roll off for 35 laps of action. Charlie Watson in the #9 would pace time trials and start from the point with Duane Cook in the #17 to his outside. Row two would see Joey Shuryan in the #30 and Allen Huffman in the #51 side by side for the start. Watson would pull to the lead with Cook close behind. Ricky Dennie in the #6 would move to the inside of Shuryan and try to move to third. Contact between Dennie and Shuryan would send Shuryan spinning and the caution flying on lap 4. The restart would see Watson and Cook bring the field to the green flag. Watson would pull to the early lead with Cook holding off a challenge from Dennie for second. Watson, Cook, Dennie, Huffman, and Zac Fowler in the #4 were the top five at the halfway point. Watson would drive to a commanding lead Cook, Dennie, Huffman, Fowler, and the #70 of Travis Baity would all want the second spot. Watson would pull to the lead with Huffman moving to second. Watson would take the win and the 2021 Hickory Motor Speedway Super Trucks Championship. Huffman would finish 2nd and Dennie would grab 3rd. Cook would finish 4th and Baity would come home in 5th.

The 4-Cylinders would roar to life next for 25 laps of action. Points leader Cody Combs in the #9 would turn the fast lap in qualifying and start from the point with Curtis Pardue in the #17 to his outside. Dennis Trivette in the #11 and Robert Trivette in the #11 would make up row two. Pardue would use the high side to take the early lead. The caution would fly on lap 2 as Pardue would spin coming off of turn four. Combs and Robert Trivette would bring the field back to the restart. Combs would pull to the lead with Robert Trivette shadowing his every move. Combs would go on to take the win and the 2021 Hickory Motor Speedway 4-Cylinders Championship. Robert Trivette would move through the field but settle for 2nd, Dennis Trivette would grab 3rd, and Pardue would get 4th.

The Heritage Finance Late Models would finish out the night's festivities with their 75 lap feature. Veteran Late Model driver Landon Huffman in the #75 would set the fast time in qualifying and start from the pole position with Katie Hettinger in the #71 to his outside. Landon Devaughn in the #4 and Mark Johnson in the #13 would make up row two for the start. Huffman would pull to the early lead as Hettinger would follow close behind. After several attempts Hettinger would move around Huffman for the lead on lap 18. Gracie Trotter in the #1 would follow suit and move to second around Huffman a lap later. Johnson would move to third around Huffman after a lengthy side by side battle. Devaughn would move around Johnson for third at lap 40. The caution would fly on lap 50 as Kaylee Bryson in the #11 and Ricky Bruce in the #X would spin in turn three and erase a substantial lead for Hettinger. The restart would see Hettinger and Trotter door to door for the green flag. Hettinger would take the top spot with Trotter close behind. Trotter would face a challenge from Devaughn for second. Hettinger would finish off a strong performance with her first Heritage Finance Late Model victory. Trotter would finish 2nd with Devaughn taking 3rd after the pair would battle side by side for the final 15 laps. Johnson would take 4th and Jessie Cann in the #19 would come home in 5th. Josh Kossek would be your 2021 Hickory Motor Speedway Heritage Finance Late Model Champion.

Action returns to Hickory Motor Speedway on October 2nd with the return of the fan favorite Knights of Destruction.

The Mighty Modifieds return on October 9th with the Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet SMART Modified event.

October 16th will be the date for the Fall Brawl presented by Calico Coatings.

The FASS Big Rigs make their return on October 23rd.

The bulls make their debut on October 30th with the first visit of the Bull Bash!
