"Jacob Heafner sweeps Heritage Finance Late Model Twin 40s on 84 Lumber Night at the Races"

8/28/21 - Temperatures soared in the Catawba Valley and on the racetrack Saturday night as the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series returned to action on 84 Lumber Night at the Races.

Leading off the night's action would be the Heritage Finance Late Models in race one of their Twin 40 lap features. Jacob Heafner in the #95 would set fast time in qualifying and start from the pole position with Mitch Walker in the #6 to his outside. Kaylee Bryson in the #1 and Landon Huffman in the #75 would make up row two for the start. Heafner would move to the early lead while Walker would face a challenge from Bryson second. Walker would secure the spot as Huffman would drive to Bryson's bumper to give chase for third. Daison Pursley in the #12 would throw his hat into the ring to make it a three way battle for third. Bryson and Huffman would create their own battle for several laps until Bryson would nose ahead. Pursley would move around Huffman for fourth. Heafner would drive out to a commanding lead and hang on for the win. Walker would finish 2nd and Bryson would take 3rd. Pursley would come home in 4th and Huffman would take 5th after a hard fought battle with the #19 of Jessica Cann.

The Super Trucks would roll off next for 35 laps of racing action. Charlie Watson in the #9 would top time trials and start from the point with Jacob Weidman in the #77 to his outside. Row two would see Ricky Dennie in the #6 and Allen Huffman in the #51 side by side for the start. Watson would move to the early lead with Weidman facing a challenge from Dennie for second. As they would come down the front stretch after lap one contact would see the trucks of Dennie and Weidman hard into the wall, collecting Huffman as well. All three challengers would hit pit road for major repairs. The restart would see Watson and the #65 of Josh Goble bring the field back to the restart. Watson would move quickly to the lead with Goble in second. The halfway point would see Watson, Goble, the #4 of Zac Fowler, Joey Shuryan in the #30, and Duane Cook in the #17 as the top five. Cook would look inside Shuryan for position as the pair would race side by side sideways for multiple laps. Watson would drive on to take the win. Goble would finish 2nd and Fowler would take 3rd. Shuryan would come home 4th and Cook would finish 5th.

Next up would be the Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Models for their 35 lap slugfest. Bryson Ruff in the #24 would set fast time in qualifying and start from the pole position with Mason Maggie in the #12 to his outside. Max Price in the #22 and Josh Stark in the #32 would make up row two for the start. The start would see Ruff nose ahead with Maggio glued to his bumper. John Reynolds Jr. in the #55 would get in the wall and bring out the caution after one lap. Ruff and Maggio would lead the field back to the restart. Ruff would move to the early lead with Price challenging Maggio for second. Lap 5 would see the caution fly a second time as Andy Holt in the #00 would spin coming off of turn four. Ruff and Maggio would bring the field back to the green flag. Ruff would move quickly to the lead as Price would move around Maggio for second. The caution would fly on lap 7 for a single car spin in turn four. Ruff and Price would bring the field back to the green flag. Ruff would pull to the lead as Maggio would challenge Price for second. The halfway point would see Ruff, Maggio, Price, Zack Bruenger in the #54, and Josh Stark in the #32 as the top five. Maggio and Price would give chase, but Ruff would prove too tough and drive on to the win. Maggio would take 2nd and Price would get 3rd. Bruenger would finish 4th and Stark would take 5th.

The Heritage Finance Street Stocks would pound the pavement on the historic 3/8 mile oval next. Marlin Yoder in the #08 would top time trials and start from the point with Cody DeMarmels in the #12 to his outside. Row two would see Drew Cox in the #21 and Derek Fowler in the #31 side by side for the start. The first two rows would race be side by side until the caution would fly on lap 4 for a spin coming out of turn two by the #56 of John Guker. Yoder and DeMarmels would bring the field back to the restart. Yoder would move back to the lead as DeMarmels would run close behind in second. The caution would fly on lap 8 as the #33 of DJ Little would spin in turn two. Yoder and DeMarmels would bring the field back to the restart. Yoder would pull back to the lead with DeMarmels in second. Lap 20 would see DeMarmels make his way around Yoder for the lead. Fowler would follow suit and move around Yoder for second. Fowler would look under DeMarmels for the lead with three laps to go. Fowler would make the pass for the lead with two laps to go as DeMarmels would look to retake the top spot. Fowler would hang on and take his first Hickory Motor Speedway victory. DeMarmels would finish 2nd and be the first to congratulate Fowler as Jesse Clark in the #5 would would finish 3rd and be the second person to congratulate his teammate Fowler. Cox would finish 4th and DJ Hamby in the #17 would come home in 5th.

Rolling off next would be the 4-Cylinders for their 25 lap feature. Qualifying would see Curtis Pardue in the the #17 take the top spot with Cody Combs in the #9 to his outside. Robert Trivette in the #11 and Dennis Trivette in the #11 would make up row two. Pardue would pull to the early lead with Robert Trivette following him to second. Pardue and Robert Trivette would duel for the top spot with Pardue maintaining the lead by a car length. Pardue would hang on and take the win. Robert Trivette would take 2nd, Combs would finish 3rd, and Dennis Trivette would take 4th.

Closing out the evening's festivities would be the Heritage Finance Late Models in the second of their Twin 40 lap features. After the invert from the finishing order of race one, Jessie Cann in the #19 and Landon Huffman in the #75 would roll off from the front row. Row two would see Daison Pursley in the #12 and Kaylee Bryson in the #1 door to door for the green flag. Huffman would take the early lead as Cann and Bryson would battle for second. The #95 of Jacob Heafner would move around both cars to take the second spot on lap four. Lap 10 would see Heafner make the pass on Huffman for the top spot. Mitch Walker in the #6 would move around Cann for third. The halfway point would see Heafner, Huffman, Walker, Cann, and Pursley as the top five. Walker would move around Huffman for second on lap 31. Heafner would drive on to the win. Walker would finish 2nd with Huffman in 3rd. Pursley would finish 4th and Cann would finish 5th.

The NAAPWS returns to action this Saturday Night with the prestigious Paramount Auto Group Bobby Isaac Memorial Race Gates will open at 4:45 with racing action at 7:00.
