" Kaden Honeycutt sweeps Twin 40s in the Heritage Finance Late Models"
"Nick Loden win CPLMS Feature

March 13th, 2021 - Racing returned to the Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars, Hickory Motor Speedway, on Saturday night with NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series.

The Heritage Finance Late Models would lead off the evening's action with the first of their twin 40 lap features. Mike Looney in the #87 would pace qualifying and start from the top spot with Jacob Heafner in the #95 to his outside. Row two would see Will Cox in the #88 Jr. Motorsports car and Kaden Honeycutt in the #4 for the start. The green flag would see Heafner nose ahead, but Looney would not give up on the low groove. Lap three would see Looney make the move to take over the top spot. Heafner would continue pressuring for the top spot as Honeycutt would pull up to make it a three way battle for the top spot. Lap 15 would see contact between Looney and Heafner, however they would continue on. Honeycutt would look to move under Heafner on lap 17 and take the second position. Honeycutt would drive up to the leader's bumper at the halfway point and pressure Looney for the lead. Lap 28 would see Honeycutt make the pass for the lead. Heafner would quickly move to Looney's bumper to pressure for second with Cox joining the battle. Honeycutt would hold off the field and drive on to the victory. Looney would take 2nd with Heafner finishing 3rd. Cox would finish 4th while Mike Darne in the #6 would round out the top five in 5th.

Next up would see the Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Models hit the famed 3/8 mile oval for their 35 lap feature. Bryson Ruff in the #24 would pace qualifying and start from the top spot with Chase Janes in the #47 to his outside. Row two would see Mason Maggio in the #12 and Chris Honeycutt in the #83 side by side for the start. Janes would get the better start and quickly move to the lead. Maggio and Honeycutt would battle side by side for several laps until Honeycutt would move to third. Maggio wouldn't be content with fourth as he would work under Honeycutt again until he would make the pass on lap 12. Max Price in the #22 would move up to the bumper of Honeycutt to pressure for the spot. Lap 15 would see Price make the pass for fourth. Janes would keep laying down consistently fast laps as Ruff would match his pace and stay only a short car length behind. With three laps to go Ruff and Janes would go side by side. Ruff appeared to have made the pass as the white flag would wave but contact between Janes and Ruff in turn three would send Ruff spinning and Janes to an apparent victory. However, the official call from the tower was rough driving by Janes and a penalty to the last car on the lead lap. The winner would be Maggio, who had battled up to within a few car lengths of the leaders when the fireworks flew. Price would finish 2nd with Honeycutt grabbing 3rd. Akinori Ogata in the #14 would overcome early issues to finish 4th and Alex Fleming in the #05 taking 5th.

The Carolina Crate Modifieds would roll off next for 62 laps of exciting racing action. Cody Norman in the #12 would pace qualifying and start from the top spot with Dean Lowder in the #63 to his outside. Row two would see Robbie Brewer in the #48 and Rob Schultz in the #10 for the start. Lowder would move to the early lead with Schultz moving up to second. The #99 of Kevin Orlando would move to second around Schultz and set his sights on the leader, Lowder. The halfway point would see Lowder, Orlando, Schultz, Lee Jefferys in the #75, and Brewer making up the top five. Orlando would pull to the bumper of Lowder in pursuit of the top spot. Jefferys would move around Schultz for third on lap 35. Lap 40 would see Orlando make his move around Lowder for the top spot. Orlando would drive on to take the win. Lowder would finish 2nd with Jefferys taking 3rd. Brewer would grab 4th and Schultz would come home in 5th.

The Carolina Pro Late Model Series would make their first 2021 visit to Hickory Motor Speedway with a huge field of cars for their 100 lap event. After qualifying and their obligatory invert, Tim Hollis in the #22 would start from the top spot with Caden Kvapil in the #35 to his outside. Row two would see Nick Loden in the #43 and Tyler Church in the #1x for the second row start. Kvapil would jump to the early lead with Church giving chase. The #43 of William Sawalich would move around Church for second. Loden would move around Sawalich for second on lap 20. The caution would fly on lap 24 as the #143 of Devin O'Connell would spin after contact coming off of turn four. The restart would see Kvapil and Loden leading the field to the green. Kvapil would move back to the top spot with Loden close in tow. The caution would fly again on lap 25 with the #03 of Kyle Campbell spinning on the backstretch. Kvapil and Loden would bring the field back from the caution once again. Kvapil would nose slightly ahead on the start but Loden would motor to the lead as the lead duo would drive off of turn four. Kvapil's car would come to a stop in turn three on the next lap and bring out the caution. Loden and Sawalich would lead the field to the green flag. Loden would move back to the top spot as the #76 of Jerrick Johnson would come charging up to fourth. The caution would fly on lap 28 with a multi-car incident on the front stretch. The caution would fly on lap 35 as the #51 of Nathan Byrd would spin in turn four. Loden and Sawalich would pace the field once again. Loden would pull back to the top spot with Johnson moving up to third. The caution would fly on lap 37 as the #5 of Jaden Holladay would roll to a stop on the track. Loden and Sawalich would restart from the front row once again as the green would fly. Loden would move to the lead and bring Church along with him to second. The caution would fly on lap 40 as the #15 of Chad Malloy would spin in turn four. Loden and Church would bring the field back to the restart. After several laps side by side with Church, Loden would move back to the lead. The halfway point would see Loden, Church, Johnson, Sawalich, and O'Connell as the top five. The caution would fly again on lap 57 as the #2 of Amber Lynn would suffer damage and come to pit road. Loden and Church would bring the field back to the green. Row two would see Paul Owens in the #54 and Ryan Millington in the #15 side by side for the start. Kossek would move to the early lead and bring Millington with him to second.
