COUNT DOWN TO THE CAROLINAS - 2017
NORTH CAROLINA’S VERSATILE JOHNNY PETROZELLE HEADING TO
ANDERSON and HICKORY
April 11, 2017 Holly, MI
When the Must See Racing Sprint Series
presented by Engine Pro (MSRSS) starts
the 2017 season later this month, North
Carolina veteran Johnny Petrozelle will
join the stout lineup of race teams from
across the country and Canada.
Petrozelle has an ambitious season planned
in 2017 with dirt sprint cars, open wheel
modifieds, a partnership with Car owner
Curt Cornell campaigning both a midget and Silver Crown car and with the high speed Must
See Racing pavement winged sprint cars.
The SOUTHERN SHOOTOUT events will open up April 21 at Anderson (SC) Motor Speedway
and return to Hickory (NC) Motor Speedway the following evening, April 22 for the third
consecutive season. Fans can also meet and greet the teams from around the country at an
open practice on Thursday April 20th at Anderson (SC) Motor Speedway.
In 2015 Petrozelle saw his first competition with MSRSS with a stellar night qualifying 7th and
an impressive 3rd place podium feature finish at the famous Hickory Motor Speedway.
Unfortunately, mechanical problems prevented the team from finishing the night at Anderson
Motor Speedway and prohibited competing at Hickory the next night at the series opener last
“We are excited to have the caliber of Johnny joining and competing with our series. He is a
very talented young man with an extremely diversified car lineup in front of him for this season.
This guy is a serious competitor for sure and it’s going to fun for all of us watching him get after
it on the race track” said Jim Hanks, series MSRSS founder.
