Kostecki Takes The Final Round of The ZLOOP Racing Challenge on ZLOOP Championship Night at the Races

The weather was beautiful for ZLOOP Championship Night at the races, along with Cargo Transporters Employee Appreciation. This would prove to be a special night with the Final Round of The ZLOOP Racing Challenge and Hickory Motor Speedway Track Champions would be crowned in all divisions as well as the Late Model ZLOOP Challenge Championship.

The Gold King Super Trucks would roll out first for ZLOOP Championship Night at the Races. On the pole would be the #09 of Spencer Boyd with the #88 of Doug Barnes starting second. Barnes would jump out to the early lead over Boyd on the sixth lap. Lap seven would bring out the first caution of the night when there was contact between the #7 of Whitney Lail and the #29 of Jason Smith coming out of turn two collecting the #03 of Kerry Lawrence as well as the #91 of Keith Norville for the first caution. On the restart the #33 of Jeremy Birch would take the lead. On lap ten Birch and Barnes would do battle door to door for several laps, with Barnes taking the spot on lap fourteen. Lap sixteen the #6 of Broderick Bauguess would spin in turn three as the #31 of Matt Weaver truck would begin to smoke. Slagle would take the lead on the restart, while Birch and Barnes would battle for second place. While battling for second the two trucks would make contact bringing out the caution on lap twenty-five. Birch would come to the pits for repairs and return to the tail end of the field. Birch would continue to work his way back through the field until a caution on lap 28 would bunch the field back together. This would allow Birch to take the lead on the restart. Barnes did not let Birch lead for long and surpassed Birch on the next lap. Taking the checkered flag was Barnes, Birch, Slagle, Boyd and Bauguess rounding out the top five.

The second race of the night would be the Street Stocks with the #2 of Charlie Neill and the #10 of Kevin Townsend starting on the front row. Townsend would take the early lead from Neill, while the #64 of Marshall Sutton would occupy the third position. On lap nineteen the first caution flew would fly as the #10 of Ethan Johnson and the #69 of Trey Buff would make contact on the front stretch. The car of Johnson t-boned the car of Buff and landed in the tires in turn one. On the restart Townsend maintained the lead as Sutton, the #2 of Larry Mosher and Neill battled for second. Townsend would cross the finish line first with Sutton, Mosher, the #03 of Kevin Eby and the #3 of Baron Kuritzky rounding out the top five.

The third race of the night would be the Paramount KIA Limited Late Models. The #00 of Shane Lee would lead them to the green flag followed by the #75 of Landon Huffman. Lee and L. Huffman began a side by side battle until lap six when Lee would take the top spot as hard racing would continue throughout the field. On lap twenty is would be Lee, followed by L. Huffman and the #21 of Monty Cox holding down the third spot. Caution would come out again when the #29 of Mitch Walker would spin on the backstretch. When action resumed Lee, L.Huffman, Cox and the #07 of Josh Bralley would resume the battle for the top four positions. There would be contact between Lee and Huffman several times and in the end it would be L. Huffman for the win, followed by Lee, Cox, Bralley, and the # 18 of Casey Pierce.

Starting on the pole for the K & P Construction 4 Cylinders would be the #98 of Chase Pollard with the #99 of Matt Elledge completing the front row. Elledge would take the lead at the start moving Pollard to second place. On lap seven the #09 of Tim Canipe slowed on the back stretch and was forced to pit. The race went caution free for 25 laps with the pole sitter Pollard taking the victory, followed by Elledge, the #21 of Eddie Gilbert, the #51 of Nathaniel Kanupp and the # 09 of Shane Canipe.

Next on tap is the NASCAR Whelen-All American Series Bojangles Late Models. The #77 of Jeremy Sorel would start on the pole with an impressive 15.19 qualifying effort followed by the #7 of Justin Crider. Sorel would take the early lead, but by lap six the #88 of Josh Berry would move pass Sorel for the lead. On lap nine the #43 of Cassio Vieiro would spin in turn two to bring out the first caution of this 100 lap feature race. On the restart Berry would continue to lead with the #25 of Matt Piercy challenging Crider for second position. Piercy would take the position on lap eleven. Behind the leaders the #00 of Shane Lee and #51 of Jeremy Pelfrey were doing battle side by side. On lap nineteen, Piercy would move by Berry and take over the lead. Piercy and Berry would then settle in to pace the field over the next fifty laps until Berry something went a miss on Berry and he was forced to pit. The #12 of Austin McDaniel, Crider and Pelfrey would continue battling for position in the top five. On lap fifty-two the #88 of Doug Barnes had a tire problem forcing him to the pits during the green flag. On lap seventy-three Sorel has moved to second place and began slowly moving in on Piercy. Sorel would move under Piercy and the two would battle door to door until Sorel would wrestle to the lead. The #40 of Brodie Kostecki would move into second place several laps later, moving Piercy to third. At the checkered flag it is Sorel, Kostecki, Piercy, McDaniel, Pelfrey and the #25 of Brayton Haws. Note: Kostecki would be declared the winner when # 77 of Jeremy Sorel failed post race inspection.

To close out the night it is would be the WrenchRags Renegades with the #2 of Charlie Neill and the #16 of Carroll McKinney starting on the front row. The first caution flew on the first lap when the #69 of Ben Campbell would make contact with the back stretch wall. On the restart it would be Neill followed by McKinney. At the checkered flag it would be Neill, the #4 of Greg Austin, McKinney, the #09 of Blake Walker and the # 22 of Daniel Moore completing the top five. Note: Austin would be declared the winner when #2 of Charlie Neill failed post race inspection.
